ANTITRUST STATEMENT

As participants in this meeting, we need to be mindful of the constraints of antitrust laws. There shall be no discussions of agreements or concerted actions that may restrain competition. This prohibition includes the exchange of information concerning individual prices, rates, coverages, market practices, claims settlement practices, or any other competitive aspect of an individual company’s operation. Each participant is obligated to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.

Agenda

  • Antitrust Agreement and Meeting minutes acceptance

  • Discussing Next Steps for Emerging Tech

Meeting Minutes

  • Antitrust Accepted

  • Meeting Minutes Accepted

    • The Decision in the last meeting was to have a Taskforce Committee to look into the impacts of AI with the Collision Industry electronic messages, CIECA. We believe the new CIECA Project Committee would be a good fit for this type of committee and a new AI Committee will be started.

  • Reviewed the Emerging Technologies list

    • Third Party Apps

      • This is apps such as Google, ADAS and aftermarket platforms for things such as scanning and diagnostics.

      • Standalone systems that work with the data in CIECA messages.

      • Third Party Systems could use some work for sharing data on if the Repairer pays and charges customer or if the Third Party System itself invoices the customers.

        • Third Party Invoice is not included in original estimates

        • If we get codes for Third Party Invoice, such as Discovery, then they could be part of the estimate and they could be paid.

      • Aftermarket items such as lift kits, tinted windows, spoilers need codes so we can list them to research because they are not part of the standard OEM repair procedure.

      • Conclusion: The messages and data CIECA has today are okay and not a hot topic. We can learn about these systems and the areas they will impact, but no immediate need.

    • Mobility

      • There are works with College Campuses and handicap mobility

      • Conclusion: Do not see an impact to CIECA at this time and needs to be investigated in more detail later.

    • 3D Printing

      • Parts that are not keep in stock can be made with 3D printing.

        • How do we know the material that are required, do we need CIECA messages to handle this data?

      • Tools to repair vehicles can be made with 3D printing.

        • How will this be charged on invoice and what other messages can this impact?

      • Conclusion: 3D Printing needs to be a subcategory of Emerging Tools and procedures. Other Sub categories: Copy parts for replacement, CAD files, and the lucky number 13 Robotics Automation moved up to this category. This makes Gene happy to have 12 instead of 13 categories. This will be the next topic to review by the committee.

    • Augmented and Mixed Reality

      • There is the Hardware and Software impacts to the industry

        • Hardware - the rigs and patterns on the floor that are needed to obtain the correct results

        • Software that is used to target the car and work with the OEM data to provide the expected results.

      • Software Security is still a risk

      • Conclusion: We still need to investigate, but not top priority.

    • Blockchain

      • There is a lot of great things going on with Blockchain and it could be a solution to supply chain issues.

      • Blockchain will have information on the history of EV cars that will help determine the value of the car, things such as services provided, battery charging techniques.

      • Committee would like to get more education on this topic from people like Kyle Weber and Stephen Applebaum

      • Conclusion: Important topic, but not top priority.

Great Meeting Everyone! Happy Birthday Chuck!
