ANTITRUST STATEMENT

As participants in this meeting, we need to be mindful of the constraints of antitrust laws. There shall be no discussions of agreements or concerted actions that may restrain competition. This prohibition includes the exchange of information concerning individual prices, rates, coverages, market practices, claims settlement practices, or any other competitive aspect of an individual company’s operation. Each participant is obligated to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.

Agenda

  • Antitrust Agreement and Meeting minutes acceptance

  • Identify Vehicle Build Sheet new ADAS modules

Meeting Minutes

  • Antitrust Accepted

  • Meeting Accepted

  • We had a few new members join, so a brief recap of what the committee has worked on and where we are going:

    • AI is a huge impact to the collision industry and vehicles in general, but when the committee started working on workflows for CIECA, we realized that there are so many questions and unknowns at the time and nothing with AI is causing impact to CIECA messages that we could define. So AI was moved to the bottom of the top 5 Emerging Technologies.

    • Electrification was very similar to AI, we know there are changes coming, but we don’t know what they are enough to work on them at this time, we don’t know what we don’t know. So it was also moved lower in the top 5.

    • ADAS is an area that we are working with daily and we do see need for some changes to help the industry, so this was moved to the top of the list.

  • ADAS definitions in the CIECA Emerging Technology Confluence document needed to be updated with the ADAS Modules/Vehicle sensor Platforms.

    • Infer red camera and camera discussion

      • we added several camera functions to the list

        • Driver Camera monitor

        • Rear Remote park assist technologies

        • Surround Vision

        • Traffic sign recognition

        • Augmented Reality Camera for navigation to overlay what vehicle sees.

        • Dash cams

    • Discussion that these cameras can work together and they be part of a system. Cameras can have multiple uses.

    • Camera and Radar can be used together in a system.

    • Aftermarket cameras are not considered Emerging Tech, these cameras are used to document vehicles in front and behind of them. They may add more cameras for trailer parking, but they are not part of CIECA messages.

    • Drive through car washes are fun for these ADAS systems, some vehicles have Car wash mode.

    • LIDAR is not on many passenger cars at this time, so it is an ADAS module but it can be moved lower in the list

    • Heads Up Display (HUD)

      • Windshield display

      • These features can be turned off because they can be seen as distractions to the driver.

      • HUD is a passive system

    • Steering Wheels have systems built in to make sure people have hands on the steering wheel.

    • Ultra sonic sensor is part of the bumper cover.

    • Adaptive Cruise Control

    • Radar

    • Lane Keep/Lane Watch are two different applications of the same systems.

      • They use same sensor input

      • Lane detection is passive

      • Lane Keep is active because it uses brakes and steering

    • Blind Spot

    • Where to find more ADAS modules

      • Group under LKQ has a group called Elite Tech that has a good list of ADAS modules.

      • ICAR

    • Collision warning/Emergency braking

    • Adaptive lighting

      • This is a sensor or camera based and we may have different manufactures may implement technology different.

    • Warning Systems can be optic, audio, visual

Great Meeting Everyone, have a great rest of your week! Please look into your industry for ADAS modules that are not already included on the list and bring them to the next meeting.
