Thank you Stacey for covering the last meeting for me in short notice.
Updates on Companies to possibly present on Augmented Reality
Stacey reached out to several companies, including Bosch but we do not have anyone set to present at this time.
Bosch has a lot of YouTube videos that we could watch to educate the committee.
Augmented reality is being used in the shops for aluminum welding, we may have a chance to discuss that practice.
Microsoft has done a lot of work in the Automotive world.
CONNEX Speakers
If anyone has suggestions for speakers on the connected car, connected industry; please let one of us know.
Committee Goals
The Committee has done a lot of great work and has spun off the OEM Repair Procedure and EV committee.
The Committee looks to educate the members to see if there is any data that CIECA needs to get in front of.
The Committee is still interested in learning more about augmented reality.
Telematics may need to be its own committee, but the committee still needs to review and get educated to determine the next steps.
CIECA really needs to be involved is because there's a lot of OEM's and there is a lot of consumers of that data eventually and for everybody to be developing, proprietary pipelines would be really unwieldy and not, you know, not really sustainable. There needs to be a pathway for the participants in the collision repair industry to be able to access the data through the OE. Understanding each OE is going to maintain their data in a proprietary fashion. That's true today in every segment of the industry. But when a company sends a request and receives a response back is where CIECA standards come into play. And that's really the role CIECA has played in the industry since its founding.
Verisk or LexisNexis is already working with OEMS because of the insurance work and how that happens and how might you plug into that conversation at that point? Bring in the two aggregators and maybe start to get a dialogue going with them because you know, I don't know what the OEM's appetite is for having a third app, you know, a third pathway or a direct pathway or whether they would rather work through the aggregators. I think that's something that the industry is going to need to determine. I don't know, CIECA is going to make that call.
Stacey will get contacts and work to schedule presentations with the aggregators, if they cannot make the scheduled meeting, we may reschedule for their connivence.
