Each participant is obligated to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.
Agenda

Impact Assessment of Emerging Technologies with CIECA
Background information on what the committee has accomplished
What’s Next for OEM Repair Procedures
Prioritize Emerging Tech with looking at what impacts CIECA
Overview of CIECA Standards and Messages
Look at the Top 5 Emerging Technologies with impacts to CIECA
Meeting Minutes
Antitrust Agreed Accepted
Meeting Minutes Accepted
PowerPoint presentation to go over the content:
Meetings will be recorded to help members that can not attend and the scribe prepare messages.
Background of committees accomplishments
Defined Emerging Technologies
Defined Actors of Emerging Technologies
Started working on Workflows
OEM Repair Procedures will be a new CIECA Committee
Reviewed the process of new CIECA Committees
Emerging Tech Prioritized by CIECA
Reviewed CIECA messages at high level
Looked at questions for New Technologies
does it cause a current issue to CIECA workflows?
Is there known data elements that needs to be shared in existing Existing CIECA messages?
Does CIECA have a SDC that can work on this issues today?
What CIECA messages are impacted?
AI was marked as the top Emerging Technology in previous rankings, but looking at it with CIECA and the above questions, does it still remain at the top?
AI is an instant notice of loss, but the data does not seem to be changed.
We need a compressed message for FNOL
There is a FNOL Committee within CIECA and with the Architecture Committee looking at FNOL for the first Open API message, this committee will be activated soon. A compressed message would be better handled by FNOL committee, than the Emerging Technologies Committee.
Legal principals for owner, car on the data does not seem to have changed.
Vehicle information with censors and geo location may be shared now. The Geo Location exist in the FNOL today. The Vehicle Information of Scan and Calibration can be added, but not known to be necessary at this time.
Photo Estimate
40/40 rule. 40 percent of the photo estimate has no person involvement, 40 percent has some person involvement and 20 percent AI Repairable with preliminary estimate. But the data shared today and the workflow does not seem to be impacted by AI.
Committee Agreed that AI is not the largest impact to Emerging Technologies with CIECA.
Electrification was the second priority in previous rankings.
We know that battery is an electrification area, the Recycled Parts and Inventory Committee with CIECA has been looking at the possible impacts of battery and is kicking off a new initiative to focus on Battery life and components. We welcome everyone to join the Recycled Parts and Inventory Committee that is held monthly to focus on Battery lifecycle.
48-50 different types of batteries and smaller and they all have different features and abilities. Some will be able to self diagnose, some will link to bluetooth.
At this time in the market, if a battery is damaged, it is replaced and it not repaired. In the future it may be possible to repair batteries?
Recycled Parts is looking at the state of health of a battery when it gets to the recycler. Will it be repurposed to other areas besides vehicles, need to be returned to OEM?
GM and other manufacturers are working to publish documentation on Battery Life and procedures, however, they are not completed at this time and is recommended we wait to see some of the OE publications before we explore this.
There is a lot of new technologies and the processes and the OE would like to know the information that everyone would like to receive from them so they can better prepare this documentation. What are the Have to have information and data that is needed to be provided from the OE’s?
Examples of data that may be requested is the swim lanes for Electrification vs combustion/powertrain, different batteries, the types such as Ice, hybrid, Ice Hydrogen.
Committee Agreed that Electrification can be moved lower in the priority list.
ADAS was third in priority
We reviewed were ADAS was used with CIECA messages and reviewed the data that CIECA messages share today.
LIDAR calibration is new and something this committee may need to investigate.
ADAS and Calibration information is available in CIECA today, but is there any new data to share for vehicle, diagnostic tool that we need to look at to share?
From Repairer perspective, new data to share is the ADAS components, including Airbags. We know what to do with Airbags today, but we don’t know what to do with Heads up Display. Think there is new data there.
ADAS components are reused and similar but the terminology is different.
Any Screens or data to share with other areas of the industry?
We don’t want to share too much data; so we need to discover the problem and then determine the data that we want to share.
We reviewed a Vehicle Diagnostic Report to see if this data would be valuable to other systems other than the technicians fixing the vehicle, would it be better in electronic messages instead of PDF format.
CCC last conference, they will share what the P1604 code is and what needs to be done with it.
Can this committee work to determine what the P codes means and that would be helping the estimation process.
P1 is manufacturer specific the P2 is more generic.
Today this information is in a PDF and it may be better for Repair and Estimate to add a line for these codes.
This would substantiate the need for a scan and then follow up and resolution.
Looking at these issues that needs to be addressed, this would be a line item to show the physical things, now we would be placing electronic items on the line item.
Identify the PreScan, In Process Scan and Post Scan
Justification of the line item.
This goes hand in hand with the OE Repair Procedures, the PCodes and OE Repair Procedures justify the reason something is on an estimate.
It would also help a claim adjuster to understand the reasons something is part of an estimate.
There are many tools that present the same data in a different format.
The hardware and software is different. The hardware uses the OE software by accepting the end user agreement. The software from the OE shares codes and descriptions, and this would be beneficial to the line item for an estimate.
Great Meeting Everyone!
