  • Ad-Hoc committee is being taken to SAB this month

  • Committee to work on Architecture of Electric Car

    • Lifecycle of EV battery

    • 400 manufacturers stepping into from an article in Canada

    • Grant of 1.5 million that a company in California is applying for. This company wanted to buy from different areas of the market and had numbers on price.

    • State of Health - SoH

      • Healthy battery pack for repo offering to auto recyclers for $9k so we know the return on investment and they include transportation

      • the Leaf 25 battery packs from the leaf is powering a small strip mall.

      • These battery packs are going to be used passed the Vehicle.

      • Near Field Communication NFC tag starts with the battery and is able to be read to where it goes. The plan would be for mobile phones to read this device, and information will be added to the tag as it goes through life, always have privacy. Anything happens will be added to the battery.

  • Add new box for end of life for auto recyclers and get auctions in the workflow. There could be agreements with manufactures and other organizations.

  • Liability is the concern.

  • Obsolete battery does not have an identity in the current workflow

  • Health of battery will be determined as digital.

    • If its Total loss and purchaser in auction industry and recyclers can get SoH so they know life of battery to know the value of the vehicle.

  • What does recyclers have to have to determine SoH?

    • It sounds like a digital device that is not deemed to be complicated.

    • There is still value with the cells in the battery.

  • Buying batteries from OE from overstock and going straight seller in other areas

  • New Code list for SoH will be needed

  • We need to identify the stakeholders and get them added to this committee.

  • We had a large number of participants in the Ford CIECAST,

  • Units from quick charge battery

    • battery come into shop with dead batteries, so we have quick charge

    • How to handle Hybrid and EV vehicles in course.

    • Recycler needs to be aware of handling these vehicles as well.

      • Need gloves and possibly an outer garment

      • It takes a larger area to work on the EV cars

  • Identify the Tagging to integrate databases. This tag would interface with whole battery, creation, vehicle it was in, and mobile interface. They are referencing a block chain

  • Onstar, telematics would be available to recycler to check battery health.

  • Ford calls Tag Battery Passports.

  • $7500 Fed $2700 for California

  • Price vs new and salvaged

  • Codes for each manufacturer has to be translated in the estimator standard code

  • Problem is technology evolving quickly and each manufacturer is trying different things. Some finding issues and have to make them lighter, replaceable, last longer, get more miles.

  • We need an exchange platform, where the EV batteries in circulation and coming to end of life, from garages, recyclers. This platform will have to be integrated.

    • Standard data flow
