CIC Advisory Panel Proposal
This was taken to the CIECA Executive meeting and there were two concerns with the letter.
What is CIECA’s role in the proposal, with aspects do we need new data for messages or new messages or does this focus on workflow and not the messages?
RP&I Committee was looking at this similar to the Calibration Committee. There is a need to get the workflows documented so we can determine if new data or messages are needed.
Intent was to reach out to CICI and open up a dialog to create a workflow and process with shops working with recycled parts.
Insurers want to use recycled parts and we need to know how to manage and get Quality assurance in place and the warranty of the parts. Talk through to move forward in the industry.
Need OEs in this discussion.
CIECA relationship with CIC is being used to share information and get this discussion started.
Standards Terminology in the proposal is confusing because we do not want CIC to think CIECA is setting standards for the workflow or process.
The standards are more with the workflow, which is why CIC needs to come up with a process(s) for Quality Assurance of Recycled parts, sharing Warranty information of parts and the material handling process.
How can the industry meet the needs of the industry and the consumer and provide quality parts and repairs.
The Executive Committee did not have any objections to helping with the proposal, just wanted to better clarify the role of CIECA in the request.
Paul is going take the CIC Advisory Panel Proposal and make modifications and then bring it back to the RP&I Committee for review.
Add standards clarification
CIECA’s role is to work with the workflows and standards set by the CIC Advisory Panels to validate that all data and messages are complete and can share the information as expected.
CIECA to help get the dialog going and clarify its not data standards but workflow.
Don would be happy to speak to CIC to set up a question and answer opportunity. Just establishing dialogue to find out what is needed to help all the industry survive. What messages do they need.
EV Committee Request
This is a broad topic and touches a lot of different areas of our industry.
EX committee wants to take this to SAB to get all the Chairs of all the committees together to discuss this topic.
Schedule and SAB meeting and get everyone to attend and recommend everyone reach out to get participation of those you think will add benefit.
In Charley speak, we ended the meeting early to give everyone some time back to plan for next Friday meeting. Have a great remainder to your Friday and a great weekend.
