Minutes

  • The Antitrust statement was read and the meeting minutes were accepted.

  • CONNEX Presenters

    • Susanna Gotsch, CCC: Reached out twice but haven’t heard back from her yet. Will reach out again.

    • Greg Horn, PartsTrader: Kim and Don were very supportive of inviting Greg to speak.

    • Ryan Mandall, Mitchell: Ryan is able to speak on the Wednesday of the conference since he will be speaking at the Mitchell conference on Tuesday. Kim preferred Ryan talk about the impact of electrification (his 2021 proposed topic) rather than his 2022 proposed topic of inflation. Don mentioned that Susanna will likely address inflation if she is able to participate.

    • EV Battery panel: Don mentioned that a speaker from the Energy Security Agency will be speaking at the URG conference and he will let us know if he thinks it would be a good fit for CIECA. Sandy will share a list of contacts associated with battery recycling. Sandy said the recycling segment of the industry is very cognizant of this issue. ARA is currently working on a pilot program with Redwood Materials as well as a pilot program with another company. She will share the contact information if we would like.

    • PAVE: We will set up a meeting to learn more about the organization shared by Ginny.

    • Ranken Technical College: Kim will talk to Mary Mahoney at Enterprise about sharing information about Ranken program and/or another topic. Mary might be attending the Mitchell conference that week.

    • ADAS/Calibrations: We’ve reached out to Greg Peeters from CAR ADAS but haven’t heard back yet. Will follow up.

    • AI: Jonathan Pyle, Dents.co, is very interested in speaking and would prefer to speak on a panel. Paul mentioned it would be great to have additional member companies provide different perspectives on AI.

    • Ryan Taylor, AMP Bureau, BodyShop Booster: Ryan is able to participate at the conference. We will talk to him about possible topic ideas.

    • Digitizing of Insurance:

      • We reached out to Nikki at Lemonade but haven’t heard back yet. Will follow up.

      • Jim Fowler, EVP & CTO of Nationwide, will be speaking about this topic during a Reuters conference in June. Paul mentioned we might want him to talk about the type of information that is being shared/quality of photography.

    • 3M: Stacey talked to 3M about presenting about the connected body shop. The company asked if we prefer to have an executive or application engineer. Don and the committee felt an engineer would be preferable if possible.

    • Managing Customer Expectations in a Digital World: James Palmer from Innovation Group, a CIECA member, offered to present and the committee was in agreement.

    • Three individuals/companies from outside the industry submitted ideas about soft skills. Ginny recommended we ask one of the three to present if he/she can tie in the presentation to innovative technology. Briseida Bethancourt, an attorney, proposed to present on speaking outside of the box. Stacey will reach out to find out if she charges a fee and if she has an understanding of the collision industry.

    • Daniel Hall, Toyota: Daniel, the global chief UX designer at Toyota, participated in a Wards Intelligence webinar about the software-defined vehicle. Ginny was asked if she heard him speak and she has. Ginny mentioned that this topic would be of interest to attendees.

    • Ginny proposed sharing information during the conference about the huge changes taking place with parts and materials procurement and the impact to repairers.

Great meeting. Thank you everyone for your input!
