The survey and feedback both pointed to the BMS being overwhelming
There is a learning curve that takes a long time to develop with the BMS.
The Data Nesting is confusing and hard concept to understand
BMS is complex
The new CIECA.com website we hope will resolve some of the complexity of the documentation by giving the references with the message the location links to all of the documentation.
Is the new website tracking where people go?
Google analytics is part of the new website, but it is new and not much information has been gathered at this time.
In the old website, the members would be taken to a Box directory and there was no way to know where they went after that and what messages were being used. With the new system, we will be able to see what messages they are looking at.
Paul will clean up the survey results to get the messages and context included and share in the next meeting.
Keeping the team acknowledged
For the members that took the survey, we need to send information to them about the new http://cieca.com and inform them that the new design is to help with finding standards and how to use the standards.
Everyone has to get access to the new webpage(s) for standards, an email was sent inviting current members, however, it seems to have went to spam. If anyone is unable to get into the new standards, please contact Paul to get another invitation.
Why to people not move from EMS?
The BMS is more of a server to server for larger Enterprises
The shops are smaller and have many Estimate platforms and more of a desktop to server solution.
Next Steps
Work with the VDI committee to look at Build Sheet Data and OEM Repair Procedures project that was requested from Emerging Technology Committee
How easy is it to get Build Sheet Data?
Build Sheet Data is available, but the level of data shared could be determined by subscription of the body shop with the OEM.
The Build Sheet data provided from each OEM is different and the shops would like to see this in a more standard data so they can expect the same information from all OEM.
Ford has agreements with shops that allow for the owner to accept the vehicle sharing the data with dealership for need of normal maintenance. For example, the Dealership could be notified that the vehicle will need an oil change next month so the shop can plan in advance to schedule. However, as with a lot of ADAS and Telematics, the biggest issue is people not paying for these subscriptions and turning off features.
Working on the API concepts with Estimate
The Architecture Committee has a proof of concept with Vehicle Light which just returns the physical vehicle. When the Architecture team works through and documents the API process, the Estimate will be key in completing because it is the only message that we have in the EMS and the BMS and would impact most of our membership.
The VDI and other committees such as Glass and CER will also be part of working on Estimate. The Repair
Order and Repair Status will work with these committees in the monthly meetings currently set up to work through Estimate Open API.
Due to the Open API and work to be done, we need to get more Technical people involved in the committees.
Great Meeting!
