ANTITRUST STATEMENT

As participants in this meeting, we need to be mindful of the constraints of antitrust laws. There shall be no discussions of agreements or concerted actions that may restrain competition. This prohibition includes the exchange of information concerning individual prices, rates, coverages, market practices, claims settlement practices, or any other competitive aspect of an individual company’s operation. Each participant is obligated to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.

Agenda

  • Antitrust

  • New Approach to Semi-Annual Meeting

  • CIECA Confluence Committee Spaces

  • Technical CIECAST for each Release

  • New Committees being proposed (Emerging Technology and Open API/JSON)

  • Committee open forum discussion to discuss your segment of the industry.

Meeting Minutes

  • Are the CIECA Inactive committees going to be reviewed?

    • CIECA team is hoping with the new API/JSON (JMS) Committee, that more people will be joining and discussing the CIECA standards and gain.

    • The new committee announcements will be going out in a month and we hope this draws a greater audience and some committees will be reactivated.

  • Artificial Intelligence is something that is going to impact many areas of the industry, will it be handled in the Emerging Technology Committee or will it be a Committee itself?

    • A survey was generated as part of the CIECA Strategic Planning for 2021 and Artificial Intelligence is something we know is getting lots of interest.

    • It may start in the Emerging Technology Committee, but it will probably become a committee of its own.

      • We know Total Loss and Salvage will be impacted by AI, but there are others as well.

  • What does Salvage do with the EV battery?

    • The Recycled Parts and Inventory Committee has been working with through the process of the EV battery and there are a lot of unknowns.

      • There are new ways to use an EV battery besides a vehicle, so it will be possible for a vehicle to reach End of Life and the battery still be used in other areas. There are malls that are currently powered by EV batteries.

      • There are battery repurposers, which is different from the auto repurposers.

      • Battery End Of Life and Battery Health are new concepts for the industry.

  • How will collision handle repairing the EV battery?

    • At this time, most vehicles that have damaged battery pack is totaled.

  • New Salvage Committee work proposed

    • A new initiative for a customer to request notes

      • The DispositionInqRq and DispositionInqRS are messages that are defined in the BMS, but at this time have not been defined in the Implementation Guides.

        • With the request of a customer to request the notes, it seems like the best message to fulfill this request is the DispositionInq request and response.

        • A new aggregate would need to be added to the response to handle the comments.

    • The Salvage Committee will reactivated to work on the requirements for this initiative.

      • It was proposed that the Committee be kicked off in a couple weeks or after Christmas. It was determined that after Christmas would be the best time.

      • We will be reaching out to the Salvage committee via Doodle to determine a day and time for the Committee to meet.

  • New customer introduction, should we wait until after JSON or get them involved now.

    • Better to get new customers on board now so they can help be part of the solution.

Great Meeting Everyone and Thank you for your participation and continued support of CIECA.

Please reach out if you have interest in being in one of the New Committees starting 2021.

Have a Great Week!
