Mission
CIECA’s Vehicle Repair Committee’s goal is to develop and maintain messaging standards aimed at automating the repair status reporting and defining the repair process steps. Input was derived from insurance carriers, repairs, rental car providers, appraisers and adjusters, third party intermediaries, and software companies regarding all communications needed to be communicated during the repair process within the collision industry.
All business needs will be identified to enable electronic repair status reporting to move electronically between parties in the collision industry. Having the repair operation process steps defined it enables greater awareness of a business partners’ capacity. This development created the standards and tools for participants to enable bi-directional communication of data and messaging capability between all parties.
The committee work will also include the interoperability of systems and standards in the Property and Casualty industry.
Repair facilities demand a more efficient and convenient process for repair status reporting and processing. Setting standards is an important step toward this goal.
