ANTITRUST STATEMENT

As participants in this meeting, we need to be mindful of the constraints of antitrust laws. There shall be no discussions of agreements or concerted actions that may restrain competition. This prohibition includes the exchange of information concerning individual prices, rates, coverages, market practices, claims settlement practices, or any other competitive aspect of an individual company’s operation. Each participant is obligated to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.

Background

The Assignment Committee’s objective is electronically exchange messages relating to a vehicle rental assignment focus, with other parties to create efficiencies in the process. 

The emphasis is on improving customer service in the inspection and repair process being stressed by all segments of the industry. 

The Assignment Committee consist of several CIECA Standards Committees that contributed to the Assignment Service being merged to focus on Assignment. The documentation for Assignment was merged from the CER, Glass, Rental, SCAN, Subrogation and VDI Committees.

 

Mission

CIECA’s Assignment Committee’s goal is to develop and maintain messaging standards aimed at automating vehicle rental activities.  Input was derived from insurance carriers, car rental companies, repairers, business management systems, third party intermediaries and software companies regarding all communications needed to complete an assignment message within the collision industry. 

All business needs will be identified to enable electronic request a rental reservation via an insurance assignment, change or cancel the reservation, locate a rental vehicle location, extend or shorten a vehicle rental period, and complete the billing process.

Having standards in assignment that enables the vehicle rental process to incorporate awareness of a business partners’ capacity.  This development created the standards and tools for participants to enable bi-directional communication of data and messaging capability between all parties.  

To develop and maintain messaging standards and codes aimed at receiving and recording repair related scans for after the accident for assignment.
