CIECA Webinars 2025:
We have a total of 10 webinars we plan, eight business and two technical. Paul put together a spreadsheet of webinars from 2020-2024. Typically, about 60% of those registered attend live. A goal this year to work on growing the YouTube channel. We’ve had lower attendance in summer months. Brady asked if we might have had low attendance with the Peachtree Corners webinar because we had him speak already at CONNEX. Bill Brower suggested sending the recording to those who registered and didn’t attend live and track if they watched the recording later.
We discussed having a business and technical webinar in the same month. We also talked about having a strategic plan for the webinars and focusing on the different emerging technologies that were originally compiled during that committee’s meeting. (See list above)
Gene said the supply chain could be a hot topic with the new Trump administration coming in. Greg Horn would be able to address this.
Bill said if there is a topic that people are interested in and the title reflects that, it draws their interest to get better reach. We might want to use Chat GPT to come up with catchy titles.
Gene said that AI would be of interest as well.
Currently, we have representatives from the American Battery Technology Company scheduled to speak in April to tie in with Earth Day. Paul gave them four bullet points: understanding battery technology, the lifecycle of a batter, from birth to final disposition, safety precautions working with batteries/first responders, and recycling opportunities. Gene mentioned the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) regulations and what we are going to do with batteries at end-of-life. Don said that recyclers are always interested in understanding the shelf life of a battery pack, how long it will be stored and what you have to do with it. Gene suggested they might be able to talk about EV batteries and internal combustion engine/fuel cells or fuel tanks.
Typically, in January we have a state-of-the-industry type presentation. Don suggested reaching out to CCC.
Steve suggested we might want to reach out to Enterprise and Kim said she would help look into options.
Pat Blech from OEC is an option and Ken said that he would be interested in doing something similar as he did at CONNEX.
Regarding OEM repair procedures, Bill suggested having John Eck from GM or somebody from a car company focus on EVs. He also suggested having someone from salvage/Copart present about what they are focusing on and any digital advancements or a company that can talk about transporting vehicles that are broken down, such as Agero. Mark offered to share a contact.
Mark also suggested having someone from IAA talk about trends on the salvage side of the business. Bill said we could have someone from LKQ present with the IAA speaker.
Regarding the AI panel discussion during CONNEX, we discussed having the same speakers present during a webinar. Bill said that each speaker could have 15-20 minutes to talk about something unique in their space with data and AI.
Mario Dimovski from Boyd Group and Harold Sears from Auto Additive are options to participate in a 3D panel discussion similar to what they did at CONNEX. Don asked if they might be able to film a sample of a 3D printing item being made and show how it is constructed during the webinar. Steve suggested including Gerald Porier in the webinar and sharing information from the insurance side of the business.
Russ said that Joel from Arity did a nice job during CONNEX if we want to ask him to present.
Gene said that GM announced they are reducing their efforts around the Cruise autonomous vehicle and we could share information about that part of the industry.
We talked about incorporating interactive feature in webinars.
CONNEX 2025:
Regarding the tour, we had talked to Jake at Lucid but it didn’t sound like we would be able to have the tour there in 2025. BMW was a possibility but it might have an unexpected closure. Nissan in TN has tours and Stacey has reached out to find out more.
Brady suggested having the meeting in Franklin or Cool Springs. It’s about 20 minutes outside of the downtown area but closer to Symrna where the Nissan plant is. Bill and Mark thought Nashville would be a good location for the conference.
KIA had offered to have us tour their facility but it was over an hour from the Atlanta airport.
IIHS is also an option.
Marketing Initiatives for 2025:
Stacey is going to focus on LinkedIn newsletter feature, growing YouTube channel and continue to grow CRM.
Great meeting everyone. Thank you for your participation. Have a great week!
