  • Communications Plan for website

  • Marketing CONNEX to members/industry

Meeting Minutes

  • The antitrust agreement was read and the minutes were approved.

  • CONNEX Presenters: Thank you to the committee for your input on CONNEX presenters. The agenda is nearly full.

  • Membership targeted marketing: Paul shared that the next level of marketing that CIECA is considering focusing on is the insure-tech industry. There are thousands of companies in that space and there is an opportunity to attract more members. The idea is to identify companies in that space and create a proactive campaign to build awareness of CIECA, especially among CIOs. Chad and the committee were in support.

    • We talked about the possibility of including thought leadership articles in publications such as Property Casualty 360 and potentially advertising although that can become costly.

    • John suggested identifying the business people (CEOs) in the space we are hoping to reach out to and then asking to connect with someone on their IT staff. Melissa posed the question: Will the CIO drive the business direction? She suggested incorporating wording such as “Insure-Tech is coming… are you ready?”

    • We could also initiate a LinkedIn campaign with the explainer video to reach out to CIOs/companies and then boost the ads.

    • We may want to reach out to Stephen Applebaum due to his knowledge in this space and support of CIECA.

    • We might want to consider a slogan for CIECA.

  • Building a technical community: CIECA hasn’t had a user community in the past and we have many knowledgeable individuals who are part of CIECA. Incorporating something like this might strengthen the CIECA brand. Paul talked about Stack Overflow and creating a channel for CIECA. Chad and committee were in support.

  • Cadence of sending out email campaigns: We asked the committee if we are sending out too much information. Chad and the committee said that it didn’t feel like an oversaturation of information. Melissa said to ensure the emails are newsworthy and providing good information. CIECA Explainer Video https://ydraw.wistia.com/medias/786wwjpcmg. Rick and Jeff both already reviewed the video and really like it. Rick was impressed with the video company and the information shared and Jeff said it helps explain what CIECA does in an easy-to-understand way. The Education Committee reviewed the graphics/clipart on 7/28 and made a list of graphic and wording changes that need to be made to ensure consistency and that all segments are represented. These were captured in the Education Committee meeting minutes: 2021-07-28 Education Meeting notes. Next steps include sharing the comments from the Education Committee with YDRAW for final changes.

  • Communications Plan for website:

    • Paul gave an overview of the work being done by him and Paulette to update the functionality and structure of the website. The current site uses old technology and the standards were saved as PDF documents. According to a recent members survey, many said that the BMS is daunting. The goal of the website project is to take a product management approach to the standards and make CIECA’s products more accessible.

    • Paulette is building out the standards so there is a section the public can access. The remainder of the content is only accessible to members.

    • The Marketing Committee was very supportive of the changes being made. Jeff said it will be easier to find the standards and Rick said it is a big improvement over the old site.

    • Stacey shared the Communications Plan for CIECA Website & Membership System Upgrade, which provides an overview of future communication that will be shared about the website changes. The committee was in support of the plan.

  • Marketing CONNEX to members/industry: We invited committee to share ideas to market CONNEX. We then went over the agenda.

Great meeting! (smile)
