ANTITRUST STATEMENT

As participants in this meeting, we need to be mindful of the constraints of antitrust laws. There shall be no discussions of agreements or concerted actions that may restrain competition. This prohibition includes the exchange of information concerning individual prices, rates, coverages, market practices, claims settlement practices, or any other competitive aspect of an individual company’s operation. Each participant is obligated to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.

Agenda

  • Antitrust Agreement and Meeting minutes acceptance

  • Discuss New Meeting Occurrence

  • Damage Type Code list; the * was tested and valid, do we still need the Z to replace and use both?

  • CIC Proposal for Recycler Repairer Advisory Panel?

  • Farewells to Charley for this is his last meeting before retirement.

Meeting Minutes

  • Antitrust Agreement agreed upon.

  • Meeting Minutes accepted from previous meeting.

  • Committee Members agreed that we could continue to use the asterisk(*) and remove the addition of Z for Damage Type Code.

  • Proposal to CIC for Recycler Repairer Advisory Panel

    • Charley mentioned that Darrell Amberson has recently became chairman of the Collision Industry Conference (CIC), and he is an active CIECA member and the proposal may get more attention now.

    • The Proposal was reviewed by the committee.

  • The CIECA work for calibration and scan is part of CIECA messages.

  • Discussion on what’s next in Agenda

    • Parts can be scanned to see if they work, however, the entire car needs to be whole for calibration of a part to happen.

    • The market is looking for new parts and not recycled parts and the market focus may be DIY repairers.

    • Ginny discussed an article that showed the industry change is coming sooner than later.

    • Its an expensive investment to get the equipment and software to work across different OEM suppliers.

      • Chuck with Airpro has a generic system that allows multiple OEM repairs and may be able to help.

    • Cars can get software updates and how will the latest updates of parts be known to the recyclers?

    • The Training of working on EV cars.

      • Safety

      • Risk

    • Looked at the Rivian Electric Truck and discussed collision with the battery(s) being under the vehicle next to rock plate, how cars may become more replaceable for being totaled instead of repairable, updates to other areas of the industry such as charging stations and longer battery life.

      • Charley is putting his $1000 reservation in now, retirement must be nice.

Great Meeting with lots to come.

Good Luck Charley!
