ANTITRUST STATEMENT

As participants in this meeting, we need to be mindful of the constraints of antitrust laws. There shall be no discussions of agreements or concerted actions that may restrain competition. This prohibition includes the exchange of information concerning individual prices, rates, coverages, market practices, claims settlement practices, or any other competitive aspect of an individual company’s operation. Each participant is obligated to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.

Meeting Minutes

  • Antitrust agreed upon

  • Architecture Meeting

    • The Architecture meeting for 2021 has been moved to a 1/2 hour earlier than the meeting for 2020 and is scheduled for a full hour. If the full hour is not needed, we can drop the call early.

    • If members are only available to make it to the first 1/2 hour or the last 1/2 hour, we appreciate your attendance and support and welcome you to come when you are available.

  • JSON Kickoff

    • A new meeting will be created mid January for the JMS (JSON Messaging Suite) Committee.

    • We hope to have a larger number of interested parties to join the JMS Committee and we will still have the Architecture Committee to approve the work of the JMS Committee.

    • The kickoff will come after the January 13, 2021 Board Meeting that will go over the roadmap of the JMS Committee.

  • New Part Codes for recycled

    • We completed the review of the codes and approved the ones identified as needing to be synced.

    • Recommendation from the committee for existing descriptions, codes and new codes:

      • Change the description of PAL to Like Kind and Quality to retain the backward compatibility with EMS

      • Deprecate ROE (Recycled Original Equipment) and pick a new code that follows the CIECA naming convention

      • Add a new part type - PRO - Recycled Original Equipment

      • Add a new part type - PRCY - Recycled Part (no distinction whether the part being recycled is OEM, AM, or reman)

    • All Committees need to be informed of these changes and get approval from all committees.

  • Architecture Guidelines

    • Need to add the rule that if a description change is needed, that we should add a new code.

  • New Codes.

    • In moving forward, should we create codes with Text rules, such us Character 1 will be a P for Part and Character 2 will be X for an attribute of Part, and allow all 4 characters to have a specific meaning.

      • This would be a problem to implement because of the existing codes that are over 20 years old and do not follow these rules. We leave these codes to allow for backward compatibility and then a new code may have to be modified away from the rules because a code already exist.

    • The code is just one part of the Aggregate in CIECA. The Aggregates were made to house other aspects of the code, such as warranty information, by adding elements to the aggregate.

    • In the beginning, these codes were 3 positions, however, the PA for Part and LA for Labor used the codes quick, so another character was added.

    • We need to do analysis to determine the impact of changing the length of the code to more than 4.

    • The code is currently a ENUM in CIECA, which would allow for 8 character positions.

Great start to 2021, have a great week everyone.
