    • November/December : Possible presenters include a blockchain presentation from a State Farm representative, a 3D printing presentation from Wurth or a presentation on telematics from 8: Cambridge Mobil Telematics (CMT) . Kim suggested having CMT present since the other two topics will be covered during the CONNEX Conference. She also thought it would be a good fit due to our focus on APIs and FNOL.

    CONNEX Presenters

    • We discussed the line-up of presenters who are confirmed and the agenda.

      • Phil asked how much time he should prepare to spend welcoming conference attendees. Paul said about five minutes and will work with Phil on the opening address.

      • Greg Horn from Parts Trader is the keynote speaker. The committee was asked for any input on the focus of his presentation. Dustin said he is very knowledgeable and well rounded about industry issues and can discuss the impacts of parts around the world.

      • 3M: A meeting is needed to discuss Andy Boyd’s presentation about the connected body shop.

      • 3D printing: Rebecca Fecteau from BASF confirmed she can present. Ginny suggested she focus on the parts and how to identify them and know they have been printed.

      • Ranken Technical College: John Helterbrand and Molly Mahoney are able to present. We need to meet to discuss the focus of the presentation.

      • ADAS/Calibration presentation by Greg Peeters from CAR ADAS: Don suggested tailoring the presentation to what a consumer will see and what needs to be done to be calibration correctly. Dustin said we could focus on past, present and future on the subject.

      • Blockchain: Don suggested focusing on where we are going and how it has evolved-past, present and future. Dustin suggested incorporating what the next big impact is with blockchain. Paul mentioned that most of the top 25 carriers are sponsoring a blockchain project and it will be expanding. This could lead to an opportunity to develop CIECA Standards.

      • AI Panel: We are in the process of planning the AI panel and will include an AI Committee update during the annual meeting.

      • EV Panel: Rivian has confirmed participation We are still in the process of planning the panel.

    • Michael Giarrizzo from DCR Systems offered to speak during the conference about the compilation of repair plan documentation. Don said that the dynamics are going to change with the complexity of vehicles and this subject might be good for a future CIECAST webinar. Dustin said it would be good to correlate it back to cycle time and CSI as well as why it’s important to carriers and customers. Don added that he could cover the efficiencies it creates in the repair process and LORwill present on telematics.

  • Prior to discussing potential 2023 CIECAST Webinars, we looked over the 2022 CONNEX Survey to see who/what attendees enjoyed listening to the most. The survey will be discussed in more detail during the Oct. 24 CIECA CONNEX Planning Committee meeting.

    • Popular presentations included Greg Horn’s keynote; Ryan Taylor, Bridging the Digital Silos; Michael Anderson, Digital Customer Journey; OEM panel; and Ryan Mandell, Impact of Electrification.

  • CIECAST Webinars 2023

    • January: We discussed having a state-of-the-industry webinar discussing the potential impact of the current political climate. Don suggested reaching out to Susanna Gotsch to speak.

    • We talked about reaching out to Andy Boyd/3M to talk about the Connected Body Shop.

    • Don suggested reaching out to Ryan Taylor to speak because of his message and great approach to presenting.

    • If we decide to have a 3D printing webinar, Don suggested asking an OEM to discuss the proprietary nature of what is printed and tie it into the supply chain.

    • We can ask OEMs to discuss developments in electrification. Ken Eagleson has contacts he can share, including one at Canoo.

    • AI: Don suggested sharing this topic in Q3 and focus on AI being the wave of the future, creating efficiencies and reducing overhead.

    • EV batteries: We’ve talked about this topic in the past and ARA has shared contacts to reach out to. Don was in support.

    • Dr. Freerks has talked about the electrification climate and might be a possible speaker.

    • Don suggested having CIECA members share information about their BMS implementations. We could have a CIECAST focused on a panel of members or record members and play their videos during monthly webinars. They could discuss what is going on in their businesses, challenges and how they use CIECA Standards. Paulette suggested fitting them in during Technical CIECASTs.

  • Education Committee focus

    • Paul discussed the current overlap of information with CONNEX Planning Committee meetings and Education Committee meetings. We discussed the scope of each to gain clarity. We talked about the Education Committee identifying speakers and topics of interest for CIECAST Webinars and CONNEX, and the CONNEX Planning Committee going over the logistics of the conference. We also talked about the potential of the Education Committee educating the industry and members about standards and sharing information in particular with non-members and those who are focused on technical roles.

(big grin) Great meeting. Thank you everyone for your input!
