Minutes

  • The Antitrust statement was read and the meeting minutes were accepted.

  • Video: https://ydraw.wistia.com/medias/786wwjpcmg. We played the CIECA explainer video for the committee. Everyone really liked the video. Paul noticed that some of the wording underneath the graphics needed to be changed. That led into a lengthy discussion about all of the graphics used in the video. The following was decided by the committee to ensure consistently:

    • Change clipart graphics to cartoon-style graphics.

    • Update insurance graphic to the version that is shown later in the video and don’t use the version with the umbrella since it is similar to the Traveler Insurance logo.

    • The committee liked the repair clipart graphic and would like a cartoon-version of that used throughout the video.

    • The committee also liked the Parts & Materials clipart and Salvage clipart and would like to use the cartoon-versions of both.

    • If there isn’t space for Parts & Materials wording, use Parts.

    • Later in video, change Factories graphic with yellow color to OEMs and change other Factories graphic with red car to Equipment or Equipment & Tools if there is space.

    • Delete both “Shops” graphics. Can possibly use one for Materials.

    • Update Dealerships wording to Rental.

    • Change Rental Car wording to Rental.

    • Change Recycling wording to Recycler.

    • Create new graphic for IT and show a tablet.

  • CIECA Website & Membership System Upgrade

  • Paul gave an overview of the work being done by him and Paulette to update the functionality and structure of the website. The current site uses old technology and the standards were saved as PDF documents. According to a recent members survey, many said that the BMS is daunting. The goal of the website project is to take a product management approach to the standards and make CIECA’s products more accessible.

  • Paulette is building out the standards so there is a section the public can access. The remainder of the content is only accessible to members. She will reach out to the CIECA committees for feedback about the information/documentation that will be included on the website.

  • The committee was very supportive of the changes.

  • Steve asked if we could add a forum for members to share information about their company, product or provide comments.

  • Ginny recommended linking all of the member company logos to their websites.

  • Kelly said that it’s great that there will be public information available about the standards and companies can learn how they fit in.

  • The next meeting in two weeks will be dedicated to discussing next steps on how to educate members about the website changes.

  • Paul said training will be needed to learn how to access the standards as well as how to build content

    .

  • CONNEX Survey

    • We looked over the CONNEX survey, which was filled out by 30 people.

      • Regarding swag items, Don P. and Steve said they have found that people don’t really care if they receive swag items. It would be better to have something specific/targeted in the future. It doesn’t need to be expensive.

      • Don P. said if sponsors want to hand out something, that is fine.

      • Some of the CIECA items liked by past attendees include a travel bag, charger and chip clips. Stacey will ask Bill Garoutte what item he really liked that others were asking about.

      • 27 people shared comments about what they liked about the conference. Networking and meeting people were mentioned by quite a few.

      • If we share names/companies of attendees in the future, Don P. said that we should notify them and allow them to opt out.

      • If we use a conference app in the future, attendees will be able to see everyone who is attending.

      • Regarding individual sessions, the committee felt that it was good that an OEM panel was held even if it was virtual and they couldn’t answer questions at the end. The goal is to get more OEMs involved in CIECA. Attendees enjoyed the blockchain presentation and Steve said it was a good presentation and the subject was explained well.

      • Steve said that it would be interesting to find out which segments filled out the survey. Stacey will check.

      • Paul would like to have more technical representatives attend the conference in the future and develop a technical network for CIECA. This led to a discussion about incorporating more technical presentations in the future.

  • CIECA Webinars 2022

    • The committee discussed the CONNEX presenters and which ones might be a good fit for a future CIECAST webinar.

    • Steve liked Sean Carey as a speaker and suggested having him or someone else speak last during the next conference to summarize and connect all of the topics/presentations as a wrap-up.

    • Steve liked Brandon Laur’s presentation. He thought it was relevant and non-promotional and the committee agreed. Stacey will reach out to him about speaking during an upcoming CIECAST.

    • Don P. liked the blockchain presentation by Kyle Weber from State Farm and the committee agreed. Stacey will reach out to him to speak as well.

    • Ginny felt it was important for CIECA to have OEM engagement. She is going to share information about PAVE.

    • The committee was in agreement we should invite the paint panel presenters to speak during an upcoming CIECAST.

  • Website

    • The new website is close to being launched. Stacey and Paul asked the committee their recommendations on how to best classify the member logos on the homepage. Paul suggested splitting them into size of company and then alphabetizing them. The idea is to create visibility and allow prospective members to get a glimpse of the member companies. Associations would be in a separate category. The committee was in agreement.

    • We asked the committee about incorporating a section on the home page with news and updates. Paul asked the committee how often they think members/the industry go to the website. Steve suggested looking at Google analytics to see if we can gain some insight. Steve said that in his role at Car-Part.com, he likes to look at company websites to find out about upcoming events. Phil and Steve said they see CIECA events announced on social media and it was agreed that social media is probably a better avenue to share information about news/events. Paul said that we can announce big events like the CONNEX Conference on the website homepage by creating a special banner.

(big grin) Great meeting. Thank you everyone for your input!
