Meeting Minutes

  • The antitrust agreement was read and the minutes were approved.

  • New social media photo/graphic

    • Melissa suggested using a compelling photo from a recent event.

    • Rick liked the photo of the car on the CIECA homepage.

    • Melissa also liked the photo oof the ADAS icons on the CIECA homepage.

  • SCRS Ad 2022

    • We talked about some ideas to update/change the SCRS ad that was designed for 2021. Rick though the ad was effective and could still be used in 2022. We talked about updating the graphic so it ties in to the new CIECA explainer video. Both Rick and Melissa were in agreement. Melissa suggested adding a “What is CIECA” caption to the new ad and having it link directly to the video. We could even create a whatiscieca.com URL where we could house the video. Paul mentioned we have a Vimeo account we could also use.

  • Other Suggestions

    • Melissa asked how we were going to publicize the award winners being announced during the Red Carpet Awards Breakfast at SEMA 2021. She suggested diversifying the awards in the future and co-branding/partnering with another organization to give away a new award, such as with WIN. Paul said there was nothing in CIECA’s bylaws that would prohibit us from doing that. The committee liked the ideaA new graphic was added to CIECA’s LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter platforms. Thanks to the committee for your feedback.

  • SCRS Ad 2022: The free ad for the SCRS catalog that was created by Paul was shared with the committee. Chad really liked the ad and the integrated repair segments highlighted. He asked if we could add clickable links to it. Kelly and Rick also liked the ad. There was a discussion regarding the line “Choosing Partners Who Choose CIECA” vs. “Choosing Partners that Choose CIECA.” The consensus was to use “who” rather than “that.” That led to a discussion about using that phrase in upcoming marketing materials and possibility of a sticker or button that could be shared with shops. We could ask CIECA members/committee participants who are repairers and familiar with CIECA such as Darrell Amerbson and Michael Chong what they think. The committee also talked about asking members to share their affiliation with CIECA on their websites and social media. Kelly said we could test the waters and ask them to reshare on their social media.

  • CONNEX

    • Graphic: We shared the graphic Paul created for the CONNEX Conference and the committee liked the design. Kelly asked about the font used for the lettering and Paul will look into it. “Next Gen” ties in with CIECA’s next generation of standards.

    • Location: We are looking into Missouri and Detroit as conference locations. Paul is reaching out to hotels in both areas and Stacey has talked to potential tours in each area (GM plant and Hunter Engineering in MO; Ford and other OEM plants as well as many corporate vendor offices in Detroit). Rick said that either location would be good. Paulette mentioned that Tesla’s gigafactory in Texas might be a good tour location for 2023.

  • Marketing Strategic Plan

    • Onboarding, Member, Board and Committee Engagement: Paul, Paulette and Stacey are working on marketing objectives for 2022. One of the objectives is to working on member engagement. The current way the standards are presented has been found by members to be complicated and often challenging to use. When calls are held with current and potential members, it’s often hard to explain how to use the BMS standards. They find they aren’t intuitive As a result, Paul is initiating “CIECA Simplified” and he and Paulette is working to ensure the standards are accessible and easy to understand for developers. The website is being updated to reflect this. Rick loves the website additions and said that simplifying them is really good. Once the project is further along, Paul would like to share was has been updated with developers for feedback. Paulette offered to share a link for committee members to look over.

Great meeting! (smile)
